NEWS
This section gives news that affects our association. Not only the bad news, but the good news about how neighbors band together to get things done and save the association thousands of dollars.
November 2024
At the Sebptember Board meeting, it was noted that there is a massive dead tree that would take out docks or the kayak racks if it fell naturally. A team of neighbors decided to take the tree down before it could cause any damage. From the pictures you can see how big it was and also how the entire half of it ws rotted. Thank you to Frank Adrean, Jeff Clarkin and Lee Harthorne for solving a dangerous (and possibly expensive) project.

September 2024
In September, Frank Adrean and Lee Harthorne built the ramp to extend the new platform (built last November 2023) to the future floating docks. Getting it down the street and the path was expertly handled by Lee. It was then floated and hooked up to the anchor platform.

ROAD DAMAGE WINTER 2023-24
THE THREE EXTREME WINTER STORMS WE HAD BROUGHT SNOW AND RAIN-ATOP-SNOW THAT CHALLENGED THE STRENGTH OF THE CULVERT CARRYING WATER FROM LEAVITT BROOK. THE WATER WASHED OUT THE SOIL SURROUNDING THE CULVERT AND SEVERELY WEAKENED OUR ROADWAY.
Thank you, Kyle!
One of our board members, Kyle Exchange, had donated his time and equipment to provide a temporary fix until the road and culvert is inspected by an engineer in order to determine what type of permanent solution will be needed. The board has been working on determining the best way to both fix and finance a permanent solution.

DOCK BUILDING AND REPAIR November 4 2023

(You can just see the new ramp and first section of the second pier in the background)
A big thank you for Frank Adrean for securing the materials needed for the docks Lee and Landin floated over in September, along with the repair materials needed to replace boards and floats on our first pier.
Helping him to do those repairs and start the new section are: Kyle Exchange, Sylvain Plante, Mark Puzzo, Sergei Burykov, George Ghareeb (and "little George"), Paul Germain, Murphy Bradley and Mark Adrean. it's because of many neighborhood hands providing the labor which makes it possible for the association to make repairs and improvements to common areas without costing a fortune to homeowners.
A huge thank you to Lee Harthorne for finding a great price on some used docks. He and his son Landin, with the help of Paul Germain, towed them from across the lake and Landin poled them into our marina area.
More Docks! September 2023

MARK'S WAY

Before his untimely passing, Mark was a member of the Board and always had good, sensible, and innovative improvement ideas for us to consider. He was quite dedicated to the association and he showed it with his actions. His "baby" was to establish our "footprint" by mulching a path along the shore to the future location of the second dock. He passed away before the mulch was laid (see photos below at "Mulching the Pathway). On October 23rd, a few of us neighbors dedicated the path to him. Mark's son Josh helped affix the sign to the tree and we then toasted him with a bottle of champagne poured in Mark's favorite: "Dunkin Donuts" cups.
Mulching the pathway
After getting approval from the Portland Water District and DEP, some neighbors got together to spead the erosion control mulch along a path leading to where, in the future, we plan to add another dock.
